"Pickin' Apples"

Watercolor by Carol Hubbard, 2000

Michigan produces more apples than all other Michigan fruits combined! Fresh apples, beside being ideal for eating from the tree, can be baked, put into pies, cooked for sauce and pressed into cider and juice. Try this yummy recipe for deliciously hot raspberry cider from Michigan apples.

Hot Raspberry Cider
(Low fat, no cholesterol, low sodium)

- 8 cups Michigan apple cider or Michigan apple juice
- 1 cup frozen raspberry juice concentrate, thawed
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick

Combine all ingredients in 4-quart saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until mixture starts to simmer. Reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes. Remove from heat. Remove cinnamon stick. Serve hot. (8 servings)
